“From Dreams to Departures: Purnia’s Airport Set to Take Off on Independence Day!”
“Yeh sirf airport nahi hai, Purnia ki ummeedon ka udaanshala hai.”
This Independence Day, Bihar adds a bold new chapter to its growth story. Purnia Airport is all set to open on August 15, promising to redefine connectivity in the Seemanchal and Kosi belt.
After decades of anticipation, the people of Eastern Bihar are finally getting an international-standard terminal—not just a building, but a launchpad for dreams.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has created this terminal with future needs in mind. It will serve over a dozen districts, easing access to air travel for thousands.
The terminal features five aerobridges for faster boarding and smoother passenger movement. Despite modern facilities, the total project cost stands at just ₹33.99 crore—23% lower than the earlier estimate of ₹44.15 crore.
This airport isn’t just ready for now. It’s built for the next generation.
Government agencies are racing against the clock to meet the August 15 deadline. A high-level review meeting in the civil enclave identified key tasks—from terminal interiors to road alignments and 15 acres of land acquisition.
Officials instructed teams to finish all pending work within weeks. The pressure is on, and the momentum is strong.
MP Pappu Yadav is actively driving this effort. In a meeting with top AAI Eastern Region officials, he demanded immediate action to complete the airport before Independence Day.
“This airport is not just a government project. It’s a symbol of hope for Seemanchal and Kosi,” he said.
He urged engineers and managers to keep up the pace, reminding them of the countless people who will finally experience the joy of flying.
The airport will directly connect 13 districts of Bihar with the rest of India, sparing residents the long journeys to Darbhanga or Bagdogra.
More importantly, it opens economic corridors—boosting tourism, business, and education. Local entrepreneurs, farmers, and students will now reach cities in hours, not days.
Better connectivity means reduced migration, higher investments, and stronger community growth. For Eastern Bihar, this is a game-changing leap.
