Britannia Industries Opens New Biscuit Manufacturing Unit in Bihta, Bihar, Creating 1,000 Jobs

The Bihar government has recently marked another milestone in industrial development with the inauguration of Britannia Industries Limited’s latest manufacturing plant in the Sikandarpur Industrial Area, Bihta, close to Patna. This unit stands as a testament to Britannia’s commitment to growing its manufacturing footprint in Bihar, as well as the state’s increasing appeal as a destination for large-scale industrial investment.

High-Capacity Production to Meet Rising Demand

The new Britannia unit in Bihta is designed with a production capacity of 70,000 tonnes of biscuits annually, ensuring a steady supply of Britannia’s beloved products to meet increasing demand. Built at a substantial investment of over Rs 250 crore, this state-of-the-art facility emphasizes Britannia’s long-term vision for Bihar’s industrial and economic landscape.

This plant follows Britannia’s first unit in Bihar, inaugurated in Hajipur in 2011, which has been operating successfully and supporting local supply chains. With the addition of the Bihta plant, Britannia solidifies its manufacturing presence in Bihar, empowering the state to emerge as a significant hub in India’s FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector.

Job Creation and Economic Impact in Bihar

In alignment with Britannia’s goal to uplift the communities it operates in, the Bihta manufacturing unit will create around 1,000 new job opportunities for local residents. This development not only promotes job growth but also strengthens the surrounding economy by fostering skill development, boosting the industrial supply chain, and stimulating overall economic activity in the Patna district.

Why Britannia Chose Bihta for Its New Manufacturing Facility

Britannia Industries chose Bihta, an area close to Bihar’s capital city of Patna, for its strategic location and infrastructure advantages. The Sikandarpur Industrial Area offers proximity to major highways, connectivity to key markets, and access to a skilled local workforce, making it a prime choice for Britannia’s expansion. This decision aligns with the Bihar government’s vision to attract investments, foster regional employment, and build a stronger industrial ecosystem within the state.

Future Prospects for Industrial Growth in Bihar

The successful establishment of Britannia’s second plant signals a positive trend for future investments in Bihar. With several major players, such as Britannia, Tata Group, and Medanta, recognizing Bihar’s potential, the state is set to become a prominent hub for industries ranging from FMCG to healthcare. The Bihar government’s pro-investment policies and commitment to infrastructure development have laid a solid foundation for continued industrial growth, offering new job prospects and improving the livelihood of its citizens.

The inauguration of Britannia Industries’ new biscuit manufacturing unit in Bihta represents a significant win for Bihar’s industrial sector and economic landscape. This facility, with its substantial production capacity and commitment to local employment, reaffirms Britannia’s dedication to investing in Bihar’s future. It also reflects the state government’s successful initiatives in attracting industry leaders to establish and expand operations, enhancing the state’s status as a burgeoning industrial hub.
