5 Big Changes in Bihar Passenger Trains: More Coaches, More Comfort!

Indian Railways has finally addressed the long-standing struggle of passengers traveling in packed compartments. To make journeys smoother and more comfortable, railway authorities have decided to increase the number of coaches in several passenger trains passing through the Danapur division. This expansion will benefit thousands of daily commuters, reducing overcrowding and making travel more convenient.

Railway officials announced that they will expand passenger trains with 12 coaches to 15 coaches. This upgrade will significantly boost seating capacity, making travel more manageable for passengers who often struggle to find space. Buxar-DDU (Deendayal Upadhyaya) Passenger
Trains running from Danapur to Tilaiya and Masaurhi

During the Mahakumbh, railway officials reallocated several train coaches to special services, leading to shortages. Now, they will reinstate those missing coaches, restoring normal operations and improving travel conditions.

Railway’s Expansion Plan Across Bihar

Beyond Danapur, this initiative will also extend to other divisions under East Central Railway, including:

DDU Division
Samastipur Division
Sonpur Division
Dhanbad Division

Railway authorities have requested demand data from these divisions to determine the exact number of additional coaches needed.

40,000+ Passengers to Benefit Daily

Every day, more than 40,000 passengers rely on MEMU and passenger trains departing from Patna Junction, Danapur, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, and Pataliputra Junction. On regular days, the crowd remains manageable, but during festivals and summer vacations, footfall increases significantly. With this expansion, travelers will finally get much-needed relief from overpacked compartments.
