In the heart of Bihar, journalist and social worker Bhim Singh Bhavesh has dedicated over two decades to uplifting the marginalized Musahar community. Through his relentless efforts in education and social empowerment, he has transformed countless lives. As a result, his dedication earned him the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2025.

Early Life and Educational Pursuits

Born into a humble family in Arrah, Bihar, Bhavesh faced numerous challenges while pursuing his education. However, he never let obstacles define his journey. Over time, his hard work and determination led him to academic excellence, eventually earning him a PhD. Because of his struggles, he developed a deep commitment to social justice and community service.

Transformative Social Initiatives

To address the pressing issues faced by the Musahar community, Bhavesh established Nayee Asha, a foundation that continues to create meaningful change. More importantly, his initiatives have made a lasting impact on Bihar’s most disadvantaged groups.

Key Achievements of Nayee Asha:

• Educating Over 8,000 Musahar Children – Since quality education remains inaccessible for many, his programs have ensured these children receive the knowledge and skills they deserve.
• Establishing a Comprehensive Library – As a result of this initiative, more than 125 students have secured the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship.
• Supporting Approximately 100 Orphaned Children – Not only has he provided shelter and education, but he has also given them a renewed sense of hope for a brighter future.

His grassroots initiatives have not only improved educational outcomes but also fostered dignity and self-worth among the Musahar people.

National Recognition and Honors

Because of his unwavering commitment, Bhavesh was honored with the Padma Shri in 2025. This prestigious recognition not only acknowledges his contributions but also inspires others to work toward social justice. Moreover, his work continues to motivate young changemakers across India.
