In a landmark development, Bihar’s inaugural sports university, situated in Rajgir, Nalanda district, has received official recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. On August 29, 2024, coinciding with National Sports Day, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Bihar Sports University and the State Sports Academy. These institutions are integral components of the International Sports Complex at Rajgir, a sprawling 90-acre facility constructed at a cost of ₹740 crore. The complex is designed to support training in 24 sports disciplines simultaneously, offering athletes state-of-the-art facilities for training, accommodation, and medical care within the same campus.

- Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Coaching across various disciplines.
- Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga.
