The Bihar government recently transferred ₹1,247.34 crore directly into the bank accounts of more than 1.12 crore pensioners. This payment covered the pension amount for July 2025 under the Social Security Pension Scheme. The amount was transferred through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring quick and secure payments.
This large-scale transfer involved elderly citizens, widows, and disabled people. The ceremony took place across all 38 districts of Bihar. Local public representatives and district officials joined to oversee the process and maintain transparency.
Importantly, the monthly pension increased from ₹400 to ₹1,100 starting June 2025. This rise provides much-needed financial relief to many beneficiaries.
Furthermore, about 1 lakh new beneficiaries joined the pension scheme in the last month. This growth expands the social safety net to cover more people in need.
Bihar runs six social security pension schemes. Among them, three are supported by the Central Government. These schemes target different vulnerable groups. Together, they form a broad system aimed at social welfare.
During the transfer event, a short film on the Social Security Pension Scheme was screened. It explained the scheme’s goals and its impact on beneficiaries.
The Social Welfare Department, led by Secretary Bandana Preyashi, remains fully committed to delivering benefits to all eligible recipients. This number is active from Monday to Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., for pension-related inquiries and complaints.
Efforts continue to support the state’s development through welfare schemes. These programs improve living conditions for many communities, especially vulnerable groups.
