बिहार के गांवों में आया टेलीमेडिसिन क्रांति! Patna, Gopalganj & Arwal Transform Rural Healthcare with Daily 30K+ Consultations”
Imagine you’re in a remote village with no doctor in sight—but with a click, a screen lights up, and a specialist appears. This is no longer imagination. This is Bihar’s new rural reality. Thanks to an expanding telemedicine network, thousands of people across the state are now receiving medical consultations from the comfort of their own communities.
Every day, over 30,000 people in Bihar benefit from real-time online doctor consultations under the government-backed E-Sanjeevani platform. What was once a luxury is now becoming a necessity for many in rural districts.
In May 2025, three districts rose to the top—Gopalganj, Patna, and Arwal.
Gopalganj: Achieved 129% of its teleconsultation target, making it the most efficient district.
Patna: Met 100% of its set goals.
Arwal: Followed closely, fulfilling 99% of its target.
This achievement is not just statistical. In Gopalganj, people now consider the service a lifesaver. Villagers say that instead of travelling miles or postponing treatment, they now walk to their local Spoke Hub, get connected instantly, and receive proper medical advice—sometimes even prescriptions.
To enable this level of service, the Bihar Health Department has deployed serious infrastructure:
40 Telemedicine Hubs across the state.
1,238 doctors providing regular teleconsultations.
Over 12,000 ANMs (Auxiliary Nurse Midwives) supporting frontline operations.
Each hub is designed to handle 75 consultations per day, while every spoke centre is expected to serve at least 5 patients daily. And it’s working.
But the success doesn’t come without active governance. Health officials closely monitor hub performances. Non-responsive doctors or missing logins are flagged and followed up with.
People aren’t just using the service—they’re trusting it.
From chronic patients in Patna’s outskirts to expectant mothers in Arwal, individuals now feel more connected to quality care. The digital divide is narrowing. And for thousands of Bihar’s rural families, healthcare no longer means delay.
This shift has been driven in part by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s vision for equitable healthcare in every corner of the state. With targeted health outreach and innovative technology adoption, Bihar is redefining grassroots medical access.
