Something extraordinary happened at Moin-ul-Haq Stadium this Friday. More than 400 young bowlers turned up with one dream—to make it big. Under the sharp eyes of former Indian cricketers Karsan Ghavri and Salil Ankola, Bihar witnessed a glimpse of its cricketing future.
Out of over 400 aspirants, 76 bowlers earned their spot on Day 1 of the second phase of the “Search for Bowlers” trials, hosted by the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA). The numbers included 65 boys and 11 girls, each showcasing their unique style, strength, and spin.
While most trials usually go unnoticed, this one stood out. The scale, the energy, and above all, the level of raw talent—everything felt like a shift in Bihar’s cricket narrative.
Cricket legend Karsan Ghavri, who played 39 Tests for India, observed closely and offered honest insights.
“It’s not just 20 kids with potential. Many can go far if they work on discipline, play matches, and stay consistent,” he said with conviction.
He reminded everyone that net practice doesn’t make a match-winner. Pressure situations define a real player. According to him, BCA’s effort could become the foundation for Bihar’s bowling dominance.
Moreover, he felt that trials like this reduce dependency on outside talent. “If you build your own talent pipeline, you don’t need to look elsewhere,” he added.
Former fast bowler Salil Ankola brought both nostalgia and wisdom. He recalled how hard it was back in the 80s.
“We didn’t know what professional training meant. We chopped wood and figured things out the hard way,” he laughed.
However, he quickly turned serious. “These bowlers now have coaches, infrastructure, and access. But that’s only useful when matched with hustle,” he stressed.
He urged the youngsters to learn from every chance, show up with intent, and stay ready—because opportunity never knocks twice.
The final trial round will take place on Saturday. Earlier, it was postponed for safety reasons after the India-Pakistan conflict following the Pahalgam terror attack. The decision came to protect players, staff, and everyone involved.
Now, as conditions improve, the selectors are all set to see who rises under pressure. With spots still open, expectations are sky-high.
What we saw in Patna wasn’t just bowling—it was belief. It was Bihar’s sons and daughters declaring they belong on the big stage. With the right push, they can wear the blue jersey someday.
And if you want to witness this rise—not just in cricket but across culture, business, and grassroots transformation…
