“Bridges of Progress: ₹3758 Cr Boost to Bihar’s Roads – Gandak to AIIMS, Change is Coming!”

When Bihar Builds Bridges, It’s Not Just Roads—It’s Hope That Gets Connected!

In a major leap toward connectivity and infrastructure development, Bihar is set to witness the construction and upgradation of crucial bridges worth a whopping ₹3758 crore. Approved under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ Annual Work Plan (AWP) 2025-26, this initiative isn’t just about concrete and steel—it’s about reshaping how Bihar moves, grows, and lives.

And what’s truly striking? A lion’s share—₹3500 crore—will be spent on just three mega projects, signaling a bold shift toward high-impact development.

Gandak Bridge: A ₹1800 Cr Lifeline Between Bihar and UP

The single most expensive project in this plan is the 20 km long bridge over the Gandak River between Bettiah (Bihar) and Sevrahi (Uttar Pradesh).
This new bridge, part of NH 727AA, comes with an allocation of ₹1800 crore. It includes approach roads and promises to slash travel time while boosting regional trade, agriculture, and mobility.

This project isn’t just a bridge—it’s a corridor of opportunity.

Patna Elevated Corridor: ₹1308 Cr to Redefine Urban Mobility

Another major chunk—₹1308 crore—has been dedicated to constructing a 10 km long elevated corridor from Anisabad to AIIMS Patna.

This corridor will:

  • Ease congestion on one of Patna’s busiest stretches

  • Speed up access to AIIMS

  • Make intra-city travel faster and more reliable

Clearly, Patna is gearing up for a modern urban experience.

Kamla River Bridge: A ₹400 Cr Investment in Connectivity

A new four-lane bridge on Kamla River (NH 227) will get ₹400 crore. At just 2 km long, it will play a crucial role in streamlining logistics and local transit, especially in flood-prone zones of north Bihar.

Smaller Projects, Big Impact: 5 Bridges, 1 Vision

While three projects dominate the budget, the remaining five bridges—although smaller in funding—are vital for local accessibility and safety:

  • Narayana Bridge (NH 333A) – ₹50 crore for repairs

  • Mangobandar Bridge (NH 333A) – ₹50 crore for upgradation

  • Sati Ghat Bridge (NH 333A) – ₹10 crore

  • Magardahi Ghat Bridge (NH 322) – ₹65 crore for new construction

  • Kataya Hydel Bridge (NH 131) – ₹75 crore

Each of these bridges will be constructed on the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model—ensuring faster execution and accountability.

What This Means for Bihar

These projects represent more than infrastructure—they reflect trust in Bihar’s future. The concentrated investment also hints at long-term planning: fewer but larger projects to drive impact at scale.

As Bihar pushes for smarter roads, safer crossings, and stronger regional links, it’s also inching closer to becoming a key logistics hub in eastern India.

Why It Matters Now

With 2025-26 on the horizon, this is not just another tender or policy announcement. It’s a signal that Bihar is in transformation mode. If you’ve ever faced a delay due to broken bridges or narrow bottlenecks, these new projects are your answer.

Change is coming—fast, concrete, and irreversible.
