Patna’s Big Breakthrough: No More Traffic Chaos Near Junction! Nagar Nigam’s New Vending Zone Plan in Motion
Tired of the endless jam and chaos around Patna Junction? You’re not alone. But here’s the good news—Patna is on the brink of a major transformation. The days of squeezing through congested lanes and breathing foul air near the city’s busiest railway zone might soon be over.
The Patna Municipal Corporation, under the leadership of Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, has rolled out a strategic plan to solve the junction mess once and for all.
The main focus is the Kabadi Market, located just opposite Buddha Smriti Multi-Level Parking. This cluttered, unregulated space is set to be replaced by a modern vending zone. Inspired by the successful model in Kadamkuan’s Ward 38, this initiative will offer registered vendors a structured and hygienic place to operate.
A detailed land survey is already underway, with instructions given to map both existing municipal land and any additional land needed. The survey report is expected within a week.
This plan isn’t just proactive—it’s also responsive. The Patna High Court recently pulled up the administration for the relentless traffic jams and unbearable stench near the station. This judicial nudge has turned up the heat, and the Nagar Nigam is now moving with urgency.
Currently, over 350 vendors operate in the Patna Junction area, many without proper space or regulation. Despite repeated anti-encroachment drives, the issue persists. That’s because there has never been a long-term solution—until now.
By relocating and registering these vendors in a designated vending zone, the corporation aims to decongest footpaths and ease vehicular flow, all while safeguarding livelihoods.
This isn’t an isolated move. Patna is part of the Smart City Mission, and under that banner, a Multi-Modal Hub and Subway System is already being developed near the junction. But these can only function efficiently if roadside encroachments are cleared and vendors are systematically accommodated.
Earlier, the Buddha Smriti Parking was considered for vendor relocation. However, that space will now serve as a designated auto parking zone, ensuring better last-mile connectivity.
This isn’t a one-off fix. The municipal body has already approved four additional model vending zones in Wards 14, 30, 58, and 42. Now, Ward 28—home to the Kabadi Market—is next in line. The goal is to create a network of structured vending spaces across the city, each offering security, sanitation, and order.
From judicial pressure to administrative action, the momentum is real. With Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar leading the charge, this isn’t just about traffic—it’s about reclaiming public space, restoring order, and renewing faith in governance.
Patna Junction is more than a station—it’s a lifeline. And finally, it’s getting the structured ecosystem it deserves.
