Kabaddi’s Grand Return to Bihar: A Moment of Pride

After a glorious first hosting in 2012 at the Patliputra Sports Complex, Bihar is once again in the global spotlight. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) and the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF), Rajgir will welcome countries like India, Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Netherlands, and many more.

Not just fans from Bihar, but millions around the world will tune in to witness one of India’s most ancient yet dynamic sports.

Who’s Coming to Battle for Glory?

The participating nations are:

  • India

  • Iran

  • Nepal

  • Bangladesh

  • Thailand

  • Netherlands

  • Poland

  • Hungary

  • Japan

  • Germany

This diverse lineup shows Kabaddi’s booming popularity beyond Asia. Especially with countries like Argentina and Uganda stepping onto the kabaddi mat, the excitement levels are sky-high!

India: The Team to Beat

India’s Women’s Kabaddi team is riding high on confidence. After clinching victory against Iran (32-25) in the recent Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship in Tehran, they are entering the tournament as defending champions. In the last World Cup final, Team India toppled Iran 25-19, while Thailand and Japan shared the third place.

Led by fierce captain Sonali Vishnu and her deputy Pushpa Rana, Team India’s dominance looks unshakable. However, with new challengers emerging, fans can expect edge-of-the-seat matches!

Preparations in Full Swing for the Big Battle

At a grand signing ceremony in Patna, AKFI’s Secretary General Ravindran Shankaran and official Jitendra Thakur sealed the event’s final confirmations. Speaking passionately, Shankaran said:

“It is a matter of great joy and pride for Bihar to host the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup in Rajgir. Due to the government’s commitment to developing sports, Bihar is gaining the honour of hosting several national and international competitions.”

To sharpen their skills, the Indian squad will undergo a rigorous 15-day training camp. This intense preparation will ensure that they are ready to defend their crown when the whistle blows.

Why Rajgir? Why Now?

Rajgir, with its lush landscape and rich cultural backdrop, offers a perfect setting for an international kabaddi fiesta. The government’s focus on making Bihar a sporting hub is finally paying off. This event not only strengthens Bihar’s sporting infrastructure but also places it firmly on the global sports map.

From colorful opening ceremonies to nail-biting matches, Rajgir promises an unforgettable celebration of spirit, strength, and strategy.
