On April 10, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate this 20.5 km stretch, marking a new era of smooth urban mobility.
The Bihar State Road Construction Corporation has executed the project at a cost of ₹3,831 crore. This expressway now links two of Patna’s major endpoints, dramatically reducing travel time and offering a new experience of commuting along the scenic banks of the Ganga.
Importantly, the project didn’t emerge overnight. It began when Nitish Kumar laid the foundation on October 11, 2013, the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, after whom the road is named.

Phase 1 (24 June 2022): Digha to Gandhi Maidan – 7.5 km
Phase 2 (14 August 2023): PMCH to Gaighat – 5.0 km
Phase 3 (10 July 2024): Gaighat to Kangan Ghat – 3.0 km
Phase 4 (3 October 2024): Krishna Ghat Link Road Inauguration
Now, the Didarganj stretch completes the vision. The entire JP Ganga Path stands ready to redefine how Patna travels, connects, and thrives.

Soon, it will link with the Kachchi Dargah–Bidupur 6-lane bridge
Extensions are planned from Didarganj to Mokama, passing through Fatuha and Bakhtiyarpur
A western arm is headed toward the Koilwar Bridge in Bihta
Direct links to NH-922, NH-319, and the Purvanchal Expressway are in development
It will also become a key component of the upcoming Patna Ring Road
Notably, three additional Ganga bridges are under construction to ensure complete network integration.
