Bihar Major Road Development Plan 2025: 5400 KM in 365 Days

Bihar’s Mega Road Project: 5400 KM in 365 Days – A Game Changer! 🚧

Bihar is witnessing a historic transformation! The state government has set an ambitious target—building 5400 KM of roads within a year. This initiative aims to improve rural connectivity, boost development, and enhance accessibility across thousands of villages.

Mission: Pothole-Free Roads by June!

The Rural Works Department has launched a massive initiative. Within the next three months, it plans to make all rural roads pothole-free. To achieve this, the government has allocated ₹20,626 crore for the project.

What’s in the Plan?

  • Authorities will repair 13,452 roads spanning 23,541 KM.
  • Workers are already constructing 7518 KM of roads.
  • Under Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana, the government will invest ₹6000 crore to connect 2500 new habitations.
  • Engineers will renovate 31,031 KM of roads that have exceeded their repair period.
  • Construction crews will build 700 new bridges with an investment of ₹3000 crore.

Bihar’s Road Revolution: The Journey So Far

Before 2005, Bihar’s rural connectivity was in a dire state. The lack of infrastructure hindered economic growth. However, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership has driven massive road expansion:

  • 2005: Bihar had only 8,000 KM of rural roads.
  • Now: The network stretches over 1,17,913 KM.
  • The Rural Works Department has developed 83% of Bihar’s roads.

Why This Matters?

Better roads lead to faster transportation, improved access to markets, enhanced healthcare facilities, and more job opportunities. Farmers can transport goods easily, children can reach schools safely, and rural businesses can grow rapidly.

The Road Ahead: 2025 & Beyond

By March 2026, authorities plan to complete the surface layer of these newly built roads. This project is a stepping stone to transforming Bihar into a state with world-class connectivity.
