Patna Airport’s New Terminal: A Leap Towards Global Connectivity

Patna Airport is set to redefine its identity with the grand opening of its new terminal building. Imagine peak-hour passenger capacity skyrocketing from 1,300 to an impressive 4,500! Starting April, flights will operate from this state-of-the-art terminal, a project nearly seven years in the making since its inception in 2018.

The revamped Jayprakash Narayan International Airport isn’t just about expansion; it’s about evolution. Annual capacity will surge from 23 lakh to 1 crore, paving the way for enhanced connectivity, employment opportunities, and a boost to tourism in Bihar.

With an investment of ₹1,400 crore, the terminal offers world-class amenities. It boasts two VIP halls each in arrival and departure areas, five aerobridges for seamless boarding, and parking for 11 aircraft, doubling the current capacity. Furthermore, international flights from Patna will soon become a reality, fulfilling a long-awaited aspiration for the region.

Runway Expansion: A Game Changer

Efforts are underway to extend the 6,800-feet runway to 12,000 feet, enabling operations of larger aircraft like Airbus 120 and Boeing 737. This upgrade will not only enhance safety but also ensure smoother takeoffs and landings.

Direct Flights: Connecting Cities and Hearts

The demand for direct flights to Jaipur, Bhopal, and Raipur remains high, especially with the significant population of Biharis residing there. Direct connectivity would save time, reduce costs, and cater to the large student population in Kota and wedding tourism in Rajasthan.

Refrigerated Cargo: Empowering Farmers

To empower local farmers and boost agri-exports, the terminal will include refrigerated storage for flowers, fruits, seeds, and vegetables. This initiative will open new markets for produce from Nalanda, Fatuha, and nearby areas, benefiting both farmers and airlines.

Bihar’s Culture on Display

Adding a touch of regional pride, the terminal will showcase Bihar’s traditional art and craft, offering a cultural treat to travelers. This feature promises to make every journey through Patna Airport a memorable experience.

The new terminal embodies a vision of progress and global aspirations while staying deeply rooted in Bihar’s cultural identity. For more updates on Bihar’s transformational projects, visit www.biharsay.com and join our growing community of 10,000+ worldwide!
