Opening 11 new One Stop Centers across the districts would be a very positive step towards women’s safety and empowerment. The same initiative has been approved by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, which would help provide crucial support to women suffering from domestic violence, abuse, or any form of harassment.

What are One Stop Centers?

OSacs have been the safest institution for women in distress which have been established under centrally sponsored schemes in the year 2015. Other than providing shelter, legal aid and medical assistance, counselling and other critical services would be available under one roof.

These centers will be launched in Muzaffarpur, Gaya, East Champaran, West Champaran, Purnia, Katihar, Rohtas, Madhubani, Kaimur, Aurangabad, and Jamui. This is a massive addition to OSCs in Bihar and therefore the same applies to access and support also.

Why is this so?

This is the state which has registered increased awareness regarding women’s rights; hence more cases are reported here. These centers empower women by providing resources which can help them to fight for justice and regain their dignity.

This marks a new wave of dedicated practice toward making Bihar a safer and more care-giving space for women.
