₹574 Crore Boost: Bihar to Build World-Class Sports Stadium in Punpun

Bihar is sprinting towards a new sporting era! With a massive ₹574 crore cabinet approval, Punpun in Patna district is set to welcome a world-class sports stadium. This investment is not just about infrastructure—it is about igniting dreams, fueling talent, and giving Bihar’s youth a stage to shine in national and international arenas.

A Bold Step for Sports in Bihar

The Bihar cabinet has cleared funds for acquiring 100 acres of land in Dumri village, Punpun block, to build this ambitious sports stadium. According to Arvind Kumar Choudhary, Additional Chief Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat Department, the project aims to inspire greater participation in sports and strengthen Bihar’s growing reputation in the athletic sector.

Such developments not only bring infrastructure but also hope. They create opportunities for young athletes to train, compete, and represent Bihar on the global stage.

Cricket in Focus: Rajgir’s International Stadium

Alongside the Punpun project, the cabinet also gave its nod for a landmark decision in Bihar Cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will now vest rights in the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) to maintain the upcoming international cricket stadium at Rajgir, Nalanda.

This move ensures that Bihar’s cricket ecosystem grows under proper management while offering cricketers a world-class facility to hone their skills.

Science Meets Innovation: Patna’s Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science City

Sports is not the only sector witnessing transformation. The cabinet also sanctioned ₹5 crore for installing devices at three galleries—Sustainable Planet, Astronomy and Space, Body and Mind—in the upcoming Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science City, Patna.
The Creative Museum Designers, Kolkata, were chosen through the National Council of Science Museum to bring this vision to life. This step reinforces Bihar’s commitment to innovation, science education, and interactive learning for students.

Judicial and Infrastructure Push in Punpun and Patna

The cabinet also approved the transfer of 38.77 acres of land in Punpun to the Law Department for the construction of the Bihar Judicial Academy. Additionally, a revised estimate of ₹4,119 crore was sanctioned for the 20.5 km stretch of JP Ganga Path in Patna. This high-value project is set to redefine urban mobility in the city.
