🇮🇳 Independence Day Ride: Patna Metro to Roll Out on August 15, 2025

The countdown has already begun. Patna Metro is slated for launch on August 15, 2025, marking a milestone for Bihar’s capital city. The construction work is progressing at full speed. Patna’s residents can soon expect seamless commutes, quicker travel, and cleaner transport — all within city limits.

This is Bihar’s biggest urban mobility upgrade in decades, reflecting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s long-term development vision for the state.

Next in Line: Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur & Darbhanga

Bihar is not stopping at Patna. Metro projects in four other cities are in the pipeline:

Gaya:

• The longest proposed metro route — 36 kilometers.

• Divided into two corridors with 28 metro stations planned.

Bhagalpur:

• To be developed in two phases.

• Phase 1: 12 km stretch from Saidpur to Champanagar (12 stations).

• Phase 2: Extension from Bhagalpur Station to Champanagar and Vastu Vihar (10 more stations).

Muzaffarpur:

• Corridor 1: 13.85 km from Harpur Bakhri to Ramdayalu (13 stations).

• Corridor 2: 7.4 km from SKMCH to Muzaffarpur Junction (7 stations).

Darbhanga:

• Detailed Project Report (DPR) in progress.

• Final blueprint expected to be unveiled soon.

Each city’s DPR is being handled by RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service), ensuring the planning meets global transit standards.

Funding the Future: A Global Investment in Bihar’s Growth

The financial model is robust and inclusive.

• Centre & Bihar Government: Will each contribute 20% of the cost.

• International Lending Agencies: The remaining 60% will be financed by institutions like the Asian Development Bank and World Bank.

This mixed-funding strategy not only ensures financial stability but also opens Bihar to global infrastructure partnerships.
