Bihar’s Bold Move: Investing ₹568 Crore to Empower 3.6 Crore Youths Through Sports

Bihar is making waves by channeling a massive ₹568 crore into sports for 2025-26, a significant increase from ₹480 crore the previous year. This strategic investment aims to engage over 3.6 crore young voters aged 18-39, transforming the state’s sports landscape.


Infrastructure Expansion: 252 Stadiums and a Dedicated Sports University

The state is constructing stadiums in at least 252 blocks, ensuring grassroots access to sports facilities. Additionally, a dedicated Sports University has commenced operations in Rajgir, offering specialized training and education to aspiring athletes.


Khelo India Youth Games 2025: Bihar Takes Center Stage

Hosting the 7th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games from May 4 to May 15 across Patna, Rajgir, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai, Bihar showcases its commitment to sports. The event has garnered praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the state’s efforts in promoting sports at the national level.


Youth Engagement: Scholarships, Jobs, and Talent Hunts

Bihar’s approach includes providing scholarships of ₹20 lakh, ₹5 lakh, and ₹3 lakh to athletes winning international, national, and state-level medals, respectively. Furthermore, 76 athletes have secured government jobs, and talent hunts are being conducted in 40,000 schools to identify and nurture young talent.


Strategic Focus: Dedicated Sports Department and Employment Generation

Recognizing the importance of sports in youth engagement, Bihar established a separate Sports Department on January 9, 2024. This move underscores the state’s commitment to developing a robust sports ecosystem. Additionally, the government has created 24 lakh employment opportunities, aligning with its target of generating 34 lakh jobs.
