Why Gaya Junction Is Undergoing a Mega Block

The redevelopment work at Gaya Junction has gained momentum. Extra workers have joined the ongoing project, and the target is clear: transform the station into a world-class facility by 2026.
Therefore, the last week of November becomes crucial. Platforms 2 and 3 will undergo a mega block, and teams will work on raising their height, extending their length, and upgrading their structure.

Because of this, nearly 10% of the trains will experience route changes, and a few may even face temporary cancellation. The goal, however, remains simple—ensure smooth travel while preparing the station for a modern future.

Which Trains Will See Route Changes?

Several trains that currently operate from Platforms 2 and 3 will face operational adjustments. Almost 50 trains use these two platforms, so the rearrangement becomes necessary.

However, two major trains will run without any disturbance:

• Mahabodhi Express

• Varanasi–Ranchi Vande Bharat Express

These two important services will shift to Platforms 6 and 7 to avoid excessive pressure on busy tracks.

Meanwhile, other trains may operate from Platforms 4, 5, 6, 7, and even the PG line. This strategy helps distribute traffic and maintain steady movement across the station.

How Railways Are Preparing for the Block

Before the mega block starts, senior officials have demanded detailed reports from the local railway teams. These teams have already submitted most of the required information, including updates about the 50 affected trains.

Once the final assessment is complete, the railway administration will release a full list. This list will confirm:

• Route changes

• Temporary reductions in operations

• Cancellations (if required)

• Revised platform allocations

Since these decisions will affect a large number of daily travelers, the railway team is updating every system in advance. This helps avoid confusion and reduces the chance of inconvenience.
