Montha Ke Baad Ray Of Hope: Bihar Farmers Finally Get The Relief They Deserve”

When storms destroy fields, hope usually collapses with them. But this time, Bihar’s farmers are rising again — stronger and united — with a new relief grant that brings real support straight to their homes.

The state government has opened applications for financial assistance for farmers affected by Cyclone Montha, offering relief from ₹1,000 to ₹45,000 based on crop loss and land type. This is big, and more importantly, this is timely.

Montha Cyclone: A Storm That Shook Lives

Cyclone Montha didn’t just bring rain.
It brought fear, loss, and uncertainty.

The storm tore through Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar, damaging ripe paddy crops and flooding fields right before the Rabi season. Farmers watched their year-long efforts drown in waterlogged fields. Many feared they wouldn’t recover before the next harvest cycle.

Yet, when reports from district officers confirmed the massive losses, the new Bihar government moved quickly. And finally, after days of waiting, the relief window opened.

 The Relief Plan: Direct Support That Reaches Farmers

Now, affected farmers can apply for Agriculture Input Subsidy–2025, which covers 12 districts, 39 blocks, and 397 panchayats.
This is not just compensation — it is recovery support.

The subsidy rates are simple and farmer-friendly:

• ₹8,500 per hectare for unirrigated land

• ₹17,000 per hectare for irrigated land

• ₹22,500 per hectare for multi-year/perennial crops (including sugarcane)

• Maximum eligible area: 2 hectares

• Minimum grant: ₹1,000 – ₹2,500 depending on crop category

Only farmers with 33% or more crop loss can apply. All payments go directly to bank accounts through the DBT portal.

Who Can Apply — And What Documents Are Needed

Every eligible farmer from the listed districts — Begusarai, East Champaran, Kaimur, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Gaya, Bhojpur, Madhepura, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Shivhar, and Supaul — can apply online.

To apply smoothly, farmers must provide:

• LPC or Lagaan Receipt (2022–23, 2023–24, or 2024–25) for landowners

• Self-declaration certificate (for non-landowners), verified by Ward Member and Agriculture Coordinator

• Family details with Aadhaar verification

• 13-digit farmer registration number
