In a bold and inspiring move, Reliance Industries is setting the stage for one of Bihar’s most transformative green energy projects. A whopping ₹125 crore investment is powering the upcoming Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant in Madhubani’s Lohat Industrial Area, promising not just cleaner energy—but a cleaner, stronger future for thousands.
Reliance’s CBG plant is not just another infrastructure project. It’s a bridge between modern clean technology and Bihar’s deeply rooted agricultural economy.
The numbers are massive—and so is the impact:
Production Capacity: 7,875 metric tonnes of Compressed Biogas annually
By-product: 80,000 tonnes of organic fertiliser
Land Area: 27.44 acres allocated by BIADA (Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority)
More importantly, this initiative will create:
100 direct jobs
150+ indirect jobs
Additional income for local farmers through the purchase of agricultural waste
The plant will use agricultural residue as raw material, making it a textbook example of a circular economy model in action.
Industries Minister Nitish Mishra has rightly called this a milestone for Bihar.
He said,
“It is expected to not only strengthen the rural economy but also position the state as a key player in India’s renewable energy transition.”
