RE-4 Exam Before August: Bihar to Recruit 1.6 Lakh Teachers, Major Overhaul Underway

Bihar is on the edge of its biggest teacher recruitment yet — and the timeline is tight.
In a decisive move, the Bihar government has set the stage for the BPSC TRE-4 exam before August 2025, aiming to recruit over 1.6 lakh teachers. This isn’t just a hiring spree; it’s a bold step toward reforming the education landscape.

The Countdown Has Begun: August 10 Is the Key Deadline

Education Minister Sunil Kumar clearly stated that all transfers and postings will wrap up by August 10. Immediately afterward, the BPSC TRE-4 recruitment exam will begin.

This round will open up more than 1.6 lakh teaching positions across primary and secondary schools. The urgency reflects the government’s clear priority — fix the teacher gap without delay.

Recruitment Beyond Numbers: Special Educators and Compassionate Hiring

The upcoming drive doesn’t stop at regular teachers. The state is also focusing on inclusivity.

➡️ 7,279 special educators will be recruited for children with disabilities.
➡️ 6,421 posts will be filled on compassionate grounds for eligible candidates.

Districts are already mapping schools and identifying requirements. Additionally, the BPSC will handle these processes under newly framed recruitment rules, making the system fairer and faster.

Faster Exams, Stronger Systems

The Education Minister emphasized a commitment to punctuality and transparency. Therefore, exams like Sakshamta Pariksha (Competency Test) and Special Educator Exams will follow strict schedules.

Moreover, internal reviews are ensuring smooth coordination between the BPSC, education department, and district offices. These checks aim to maintain accountability throughout the recruitment.

Reforms that Support Women and Improve Infrastructure

During a review meeting, the government issued immediate instructions to resolve maternity leave issues faced by women teachers. This is a long-awaited relief for thousands of educators.

Additionally, the state is:

  • Constructing boundary walls for girls’ hostels.

  • Digitizing land records of schools and colleges.

  • Building a land bank to support school expansion.

Each move aims to create safer, more efficient learning spaces across Bihar.

Continuous Teacher Training from 2025

Starting this year, all teachers will undergo training twice a year at DIET (District Institute of Education and Training). These sessions will last one week each and will focus on new teaching techniques.

This isn’t just a routine exercise. It reflects Bihar’s serious commitment to skill development and classroom impact.

Meanwhile, a statewide hostel improvement campaign is also being launched to fix unsafe and unhygienic conditions.

Political Collaboration: MLAs to Get Faster Responses

Recognizing the importance of public representatives, the Education Department will now act promptly on MLA and MLC recommendations. This change will reduce delays and ensure that genuine demands get addressed without red tape.

It marks a shift toward more people-centric governance.

A Fresh Era for Education in Bihar

From fast-track recruitments to women-friendly policies, from better infrastructure to improved training — Bihar’s education system is finally undergoing a massive reset.

This isn’t a plan for the future. It’s happening now, and the results could reshape thousands of schools.
