Indo-Nepal Border Road in Bihar Nears Completion: A Game-Changer for 7 Districts & 131 Bridges Underway! 🚧

The Indo-Nepal Border Road Project, stretching 554 kilometers with 131 new bridges and culverts, is 80% complete and set to be finished by December this year. Launched back in 2010, this central government initiative spans across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Out of the 1372 km long project, Bihar’s share is 554 km, strategically hugging the India-Nepal border. This road aims to link seven border districts of Bihar—West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj—bringing them closer like never before.
The construction kicks off at Madanpur in West Champaran and moves through Galgalia in Kishanganj, eventually reaching Siliguri. This is no ordinary road—it’s a ₹2486.22 crore lifeline, with the Bihar government additionally allocating ₹3300 crore for land acquisition and bridge construction.

Nitin Nabin, Bihar’s Minister for Road Construction, has shared updates affirming the rapid progress. With proper coordination between central and state authorities, the goal is now clearly within reach—December 2025 is not just a target; it’s a milestone-in-waiting.
