Bihar’s Power Leap: 68 New Substations Set to Energize North Bihar
A Brighter Future Starts with Stronger Power
North Bihar is witnessing a major shift in its power infrastructure. NBPDCL (North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited) has begun the construction of 68 new power substations that will ensure uninterrupted electricity for every household, farm, and business.
As demand rises due to the growth of industries, agriculture, and households, this project arrives at the perfect moment. These new substations will boost power supply and provide reliable, high-quality electricity.
Farmers to Receive Reliable, Subsidized Electricity
Farmers in rural Bihar have long faced power supply challenges. However, change is underway. In the current fiscal year, 77,000 farmers received free electricity connections through the Mukhyamantri Krishi Vidyut Sambandh Yojana. Additionally, the government has offered up to 92% subsidy on power bills and dedicated feeders for agriculture.
These initiatives are not just promises—they are transforming rural Bihar’s power scenario.
Industry and Commerce See a Surge
Businesses and industries now have a brighter future ahead. Over 1.25 lakh new commercial connections and more than 9,000 new industrial connections have been issued this year. With these changes, businesses no longer need to worry about power interruptions or voltage fluctuations.
This initiative provides businesses with the stability they need to thrive and expand without limitations.
Smarter Execution, Better Results
NBPDCL is not just spending; it is investing wisely. Out of the 68 substations, 30 are part of the central government’s RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme). These substations were approved for ₹347 crore, 1.5% below the original budget.
Meanwhile, the remaining 38 substations, under Bihar’s state plan, were sanctioned at ₹410 crore, which is also 1.5% under the projected cost. This shows effective financial management and prompt decision-making.
Reaching the Last Village with Stronger Power
These new substations will help balance the power load, reduce tripping incidents, and deliver stable electricity to even the most remote areas. The district administrations have already completed land allocation. Following this, NBPDCL Managing Director Dr. Nilesh Ramchandra Devre instructed engineers to immediately begin construction.
This initiative is not only about infrastructure; it’s about connecting Bihar’s future with reliable power—fostering growth, stability, and progress.
