Bihar’s Big Leap: ₹33,000 Crore Annual Plan Approved for New Bypasses and Elevated Corridors!

Bihar Set to Transform Roads with a ₹33,000 Cr Boost — A Massive Win for Development!

Imagine cruising through Bihar without potholes, chokepoints, or long detours. That future just got closer.

In a landmark decision, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has greenlit Bihar’s ₹33,000 crore annual work plan for the financial year 2025-26. Shared by Bihar’s Road Construction Minister , this plan marks a giant leap for road infrastructure across the state.

Two and Four-Lane Roads to Cover 526 KM

As part of the plan, ₹19,981 crore will be invested in upgrading 526 kilometers of roads into two and four-lane stretches. The projects include key connectors like:

  • Dhaka Mod to Beljhar

  • Vikramshila Approach Road

  • Masrakh–Chakia–Bhittha Mod

  • Bettiah to Bagaha

  • Arwal to Bihar Sharif

  • Naubatpur Bazaar Road

  • Bariarpur to Bishunpur

Each of these roadways has the potential to reduce traffic, cut travel time, and boost inter-district trade.

7 Brand New Bypasses Coming Soon

The government has also approved seven new bypasses under this masterplan. These will span 74 KM in total and cost around ₹6,040 crore. The bypasses are proposed at:

  • Dumraon

  • Arwal

  • Daudnagar

  • Aurangabad

  • Singheshwar

  • VTR (Valmiki Tiger Reserve region)

  • Samastipur

This expansion is designed to redirect heavy traffic away from city centers, making both urban and rural roads safer and faster.

227 KM of Two-Lane Roads Underway

In addition, 227 kilometers of new two-lane roads will be constructed with an allocation of ₹1,597 crore. These will strengthen connectivity in less-developed zones, enhancing accessibility to remote towns and villages.

Patna Gets a Game-Changer: Anisabad-AIIMS Elevated Corridor

One of the most awaited approvals is the 10-kilometer long Anisabad to AIIMS Elevated Corridor in Patna. This ₹1,308 crore project will finally streamline travel for thousands who face daily congestion on this crucial stretch.

For urban Patna, this could mean smoother commutes, reduced pollution, and better emergency response time to AIIMS.

Bridge and ROB Projects Also Get the Green Light

Not just roads—₹3,758 crore has been set aside for bridge development, along with ₹2,085 crore for 19 new Rail Over Bridges (ROBs). This includes the proposed Didarganj to Saristabad Elevated Road, further enhancing Patna’s modern skyline.

These projects will not only ease traffic but also strengthen flood-resilient infrastructure in vulnerable zones.

Bihar’s vision is finally aligning with real-time execution. With DPRs for ₹18,000+ crore projects already ready, construction is likely to commence post monsoon, pending final sanction letters—expected by August 15.

The collaboration between Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Bihar’s PWD minister Nitin Navin signals a new era for Bihar’s connectivity and logistics.
