Muzaffarpur Gets 10,400 High-Security EVMs: Bihar’s Big Leap Towards Transparent Elections
When it comes to voting, trust is everything. And this time, Muzaffarpur is setting a powerful example. For the first time in Bihar, over 10,000 of India’s most advanced EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) are arriving from Hyderabad. These M3-generation machines are expected to transform the upcoming Assembly elections into the most transparent and secure yet.
What’s New: The Arrival of 10,400 M3 EVMs in Muzaffarpur
The Election Commission has dispatched 10,400 high-tech EVMs to Muzaffarpur. These machines are not just regular upgrades—they’re a part of India’s third-generation EVM technology. Before Bihar, only Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh had the chance to use them.
By April 21, all the new Ballot Units (BU), Control Units (CU), and VVPATs will reach the warehouse. Preparations are in full swing to deploy them smoothly in the region.
What Makes M3 EVMs So Advanced?
The M3 EVMs boast enhanced encryption and tamper-proof security. Unlike older machines, these can detect any unauthorized access attempt instantly. They also come integrated with VVPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail), giving voters a printed confirmation of their vote.
Here’s what stands out:
-
Standalone system: No internet, no hacking risks
-
Strong encryption: Prevents tampering
-
Real-time error detection
-
High data capacity: Handles more candidates and voter details
-
Full transparency with voter-verified paper slips
Thanks to these features, political parties and voters alike can trust the process more than ever before.
First Level Check (FLC) Begins May 25
The First Level Checking (FLC) of these EVMs will start on May 25 and continue for 32 days. A dedicated team of 25 engineers will conduct this detailed verification. It’s a crucial step before mock polls and randomization begin.
Importantly, representatives from political parties will also be present during the mock polls—ensuring complete transparency.
EVM Sets Headed to Other Districts Too
Muzaffarpur isn’t the only district to benefit. Around 5,650 EVM sets will be sent from here to nearby districts like Samastipur, East Champaran, West Champaran, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar.
The entire operation reflects a massive shift in how Bihar is handling its election infrastructure this year.
Why This Matters to Every Voter
For the first time, voters in Muzaffarpur will see the most secure voting system India has ever developed. It’s not just a tech upgrade—it’s a trust upgrade. Every vote counts, and now, every vote is verified, traceable, and protected from tampering.
With these changes, Bihar is making a bold statement: clean elections, empowered voters, and zero compromise on integrity.
