🚧 Patna-Arrah-Sasaram Highway Project: Bihar’s ₹3,712 Cr Game-Changer is Finally Here – Faster Travel, New Jobs & Growth Await!
Imagine cruising from Patna to Sasaram in nearly half the time it takes today—no bumper-to-bumper traffic, no bottlenecks, just smooth and seamless travel. That dream is turning into reality with the newly approved Patna-Arrah-Sasaram four-lane highway project, a massive infrastructure leap for Bihar.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has greenlit a 120.10 km access-controlled corridor, set to be built at a whopping ₹3,712 crores under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). The new highway will combine greenfield stretches—brand-new roads through open land—and brownfield upgrades, where existing roads will be modernized.
Currently, routes through SH-2, SH-12, SH-81, and SH-102 take over 3 to 4 hours due to extreme congestion, especially in Arrah. But that’s about to change.
The corridor will strategically pass through and ease traffic in Arrah, Grahini, Piro, Bikramganj, Mokar, and Sasaram. It will also integrate with five major highways—NH-19, NH-319, NH-922, NH-131G, and NH-120—ensuring smooth travel to major centers like Patna, Aurangabad, and Kaimur.
Additionally, the project includes a 10.6 km upgradation of an existing stretch, bringing it up to par with modern highway standards.
The new highway is more than just a road—it’s a lifeline for progress. Here’s how:
Travel time will be cut by nearly half, ensuring faster, more predictable journeys.
Direct connectivity to Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport (Patna) and the upcoming Bihta Airport.

Thanks to these upgrades, not only will local commutes become stress-free, but cross-city travel between Lucknow, Ranchi, Varanasi, and Patna will also become more efficient.
