Bihar’s Agricultural Revolution: Powering 2.85 Lakh Farmers with Electricity by June!

Bihar is making history! 🌱⚡ Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the state is set to provide electricity connections to 2.85 lakh farmers by June 2025. This bold initiative will transform farming by reducing dependence on expensive diesel pumps and boosting productivity like never before.

Electricity Empowering Farmers – A New Dawn for Bihar!

Currently, over 5.55 lakh farmers already benefit from dedicated agricultural electricity feeders. Now, the Bihar government is accelerating efforts to ensure the remaining 2.85 lakh applicants receive their connections soon.

The Energy Department, following direct instructions from CM Nitish Kumar, is working tirelessly to fast-track this process. The goal? To ensure Bihar’s farmers have affordable and sustainable power for irrigation and other agricultural activities.

Solar Energy – The Future of Bihar’s Agriculture

Recognizing the need for sustainability, Bihar is shifting from costly thermal power to renewable energy. Under Phase 3 of this initiative, the government is setting up solar power plants to generate 1,200 MW of electricity.

These solar-based agricultural feeders will provide daytime electricity for farmers, eliminating the need for night-time irrigation and reducing stress on farmers.

Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena emphasized that this initiative is a crucial step in tackling energy demands and combating drought-like conditions. Out of 3,000 planned agricultural feeders, an impressive 2,500 have already been constructed.

Bihar’s 92% Electricity Subsidy – A Game-Changer for Farmers

To make power accessible, the Bihar government is offering a 92% subsidy on agricultural electricity. This means electricity is now over 10 times cheaper than diesel. With reduced costs, farmers can increase productivity, maximize profits, and ensure food security for the state.

The government has already initiated the tender process for the next phase, ensuring the smooth rollout of solar-powered electricity connections to farmers.
