Bhagalpur’s District Magistrate proposed two locations—Sultanganj and Goradih—for the airport. After careful assessment, Sultanganj emerged as the top choice. Following this, Dr. S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary, Civil Aviation, requested the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to conduct a technical feasibility assessment. The project now awaits final approval from the central government.
