Khadi Mela in Aurangabad: A Celebration of Bihar’s Rich Handicrafts and Local Entrepreneurs

For the first time ever, Aurangabad district is hosting a vibrant 13-day Khadi Mela-cum-Entrepreneur Market, organized by the Bihar State Khadi and Village Industries Board. This grand event, featuring 140+ stalls, brings together Khadi sellers and local entrepreneurs from across Bihar. It offers visitors a chance to explore unique handmade products, including authentic crafts and traditional textiles.

The mela is open from January 22 to February 2 and showcases the talent of over 100 Khadi and Village Industries institutions. Artisans and entrepreneurs from districts like Gopalganj, Madhubani, Bhagalpur, Siwan, and Gaya have gathered here to present their innovative creations. Clearly, this event is more than just a market—it’s a celebration of Bihar’s culture and entrepreneurship.

This event offers a unique blend of traditional crafts, modern designs, and local entrepreneurship.

  • Handicrafts and Handlooms: A wide range of products, such as Tussar silk, Mithila paintings, Sujani sarees, silk bundis, and stylish jackets, are on display.
  • Women Entrepreneurs: Many stalls feature items made under the Chief Minister Women Entrepreneur Scheme and Jeevika initiative, including papad, pickles, flaxseed laddoos, sattu, and home décor.
  • Local Pride: Products like carpets and durries from the Jalsa Kalin Dari Producer Company add to the charm. These items reflect the rich craftsmanship of Bihar.
