Sweet Revolution in Bihar: Govt Subsidy Boost to Transform Jaggery Industry, Apply by August 25!
What if your traditional jaggery unit could turn into a modern business with government support worth up to ₹1 crore? That’s exactly what the Bihar government is offering to farmers and entrepreneurs through its newly launched Bihar State Jaggery Industry Promotion Programme (2025–26).
This scheme is not just about subsidies. It’s about giving cane farmers, rural youth, and small entrepreneurs a chance to reshape Bihar’s age-old jaggery trade into a global brand.
The government has announced that units producing jaggery from sugarcane can now get up to 50% subsidy on capital cost. Depending on the unit size, support ranges from:
5–20 ton capacity: Up to ₹6 lakh
21–40 ton capacity: Up to ₹15 lakh
41–60 ton capacity: Up to ₹45 lakh
Above 60 ton capacity: Up to ₹1 crore
This tiered model ensures that both small farmer groups and large investors can benefit.
Bihar’s jaggery is already famous for its taste and purity. But most production still happens in traditional, small bhattis. With this subsidy, farmers and entrepreneurs can upgrade to modern jaggery units.
As a result, they will not only get a better price for their sugarcane but also tap into new markets at the national and international level. Moreover, the scheme promises to create fresh jobs in villages, reducing migration pressure on cities.
Experts believe this initiative will bring structure to Bihar’s jaggery sector. By transforming unorganized local setups into organized enterprises, the state can unlock new business potential.
At the same time, it strengthens rural entrepreneurship and boosts the dream of making Bihar a hub for value-added agro products.
The opportunity is time-bound. Interested farmers and entrepreneurs must apply online by August 25, 2025 at ccs.bihar.gov.in.
