Delhi to Punjab Made Easier: Bihar Rolls Out 149 New Deluxe Buses Before Holi, Giving Interstate Travellers a Big Relief

A festival gift on wheels for millions of travellers

Just before Holi colours the roads with joy, Bihar adds comfort to every mile. Suddenly, long and tiring bus journeys promise relief. Moreover, travellers heading from Bihar to Delhi or Punjab can now expect smoother rides. With this move, public transport in Bihar takes a confident leap forward.

In a decisive step, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) announced the operation of 149 new deluxe buses ahead of Holi. As a result, interstate and long-distance travellers will experience safer, faster, and more comfortable journeys. Importantly, this decision reflects Bihar’s growing focus on modern infrastructure investment and mobility reform.

149 new deluxe buses: what exactly is coming?

To begin with, BSRTC has approved 75 AC deluxe buses and 74 non-AC deluxe buses. Together, these buses aim to redefine road travel from Bihar. Not only will they improve comfort, but they will also enhance reliability on long routes.

Furthermore, these buses feature better seating, improved suspension, and upgraded safety systems. Consequently, passengers can enjoy reduced fatigue during long journeys. At the same time, families, workers, and students gain a dependable travel option.

From Bihar to Delhi, Punjab and beyond

Most importantly, the new AC deluxe buses will focus on interstate routes. Therefore, services will connect Bihar with Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, and several other states. In total, buses will operate across nine states, strengthening Bihar’s national connectivity.

Meanwhile, BSRTC also plans to deploy these buses on long-distance routes within Bihar. As a result, inter-district travel will become easier and quicker. Hence, people travelling for education, work, or healthcare will save both time and energy.

Smarter routes, better management

Alongside new buses, the government is rethinking route management. Transport and Rural Development Minister Shri Shravan Kumar clearly stated that loss-making routes will be identified. Subsequently, BSRTC will discontinue inefficient operations.

However, this does not mean reduced connectivity. Instead, buses from discontinued routes will shift to better-planned corridors. Therefore, resources will see optimal use. At the same time, passengers will benefit from consistent services. This strategy shows a data-driven approach to public transport reform.

Why this move matters for Bihar

Undoubtedly, transport shapes economic growth. When connectivity improves, opportunities expand. Hence, these 149 buses represent more than vehicles. They symbolise Bihar’s push toward modern infrastructure and efficient governance.

Additionally, interstate workers will now travel with dignity and comfort. Likewise, tourists heading to or from Bihar will experience a positive first impression. Over time, such steps help change how India views Bihar’s public systems.

Infrastructure investment meets everyday life

Often, infrastructure news feels distant. Yet, this decision touches daily lives directly. Because of this rollout, festive travel before Holi will feel less stressful. Moreover, smoother connectivity boosts trade, migration, and cultural exchange.

Equally important, BSRTC’s upgrade aligns with Bihar’s broader development narrative. Roads, transport, and mobility now receive focused attention. Consequently, Bihar moves closer to a future where public transport feels reliable and respectable.
