“46,000 New Healthcare Jobs: Bihar Launches Its Biggest Recruitment Drive Ever — A New Era of Hospitals, Jobs and Hope”

“46,000 Vacancies. One Big Promise. Bihar’s Healthcare System Gets Its Boldest Upgrade Yet.”

When a state announces over 46,000 new healthcare positions, people listen. But when the announcement comes with clear timelines, fresh infrastructure plans, and rapid progress across departments, it feels like a turning point for every family waiting for better healthcare.

A Massive Recruitment Push That Touches Every Corner of Healthcare

Bihar’s Health Minister Mangal Pandey returned to office with an ambitious goal—strengthen the entire healthcare workforce as fast as possible. He revealed that recruitment exams or advertisements have already been issued for 25 different job categories.

Moreover, these categories range from general duty medical officers to nursing staff, paramedics, dental officers, and even specialist doctors. The scale is huge, and the work has already begun.

Nearly 12,627 technical-level posts have completed examinations. Additionally, recruitment for doctors, nurses, pharmacists and technicians has moved into the final stages, bringing much-needed relief for hospitals across the state.

What’s Filling Up First? A Quick Breakdown

The numbers are impressive, but the speed matters even more.
Here’s how the drive is progressing:

  • 663 General Duty Medical Officer posts will be filled by December.

  • 808 Dentist posts are nearing completion.

  • 11,389 Staff Nurse exams by BTSC are already done.

  • Examinations for 498 Nursing Tutors have also finished.

  • Tests are complete for:

    • 2,473 Pharmacists

    • 3,326 Dressers

    • 2,969 Lab Technicians

    • 1,232 X-ray Technicians

    • 1,683 Surgical Room Assistants

    • 242 ECG Technicians

    • 702 Dentists

Altogether, more than 26,000 appointments are now in their final stages.
This pace directly supports the health system and reduces pressure on existing staff.

32,700 More Appointments Under NHM — A Second Big Push

While the first round is already massive, Bihar is preparing for another 32,700 appointments under the National Health Mission (NHM). Interestingly, this includes key positions like:

  • 1,504 AYUSH medical officers

  • 5,000+ ANMs

  • 216 Community Health Officers

  • 220 Ophthalmological Assistants

  • 36 Specialist Doctors

  • 449 General Medical Officers

  • 7,600+ other essential posts

With these additions, the state aims to improve last-mile healthcare delivery and strengthen rural centres.

New Hospitals and Centres: Bihar’s Infrastructure Gets Bigger

Jobs alone don’t build a healthcare system. Therefore, Bihar is adding fresh infrastructure to match the growing workforce.

Health Minister Mangal Pandey confirmed that:

  • Foundation stones for ₹925 crore worth of projects are already laid.

  • 610 new Health and Wellness Centres will be allotted soon.

  • The flagship project—a new 400-bed superspecialty orthopaedic hospital in Patna—is being fast-tracked and targeted for completion within three months.

This hospital, costing ₹215 crore, will transform orthopaedic treatment for thousands.

Ayushman Cards and Medical Relief: Support Beyond Hospitals

Bihar has issued over 4 crore Ayushman Cards, creating easier access to cashless healthcare. Additionally, the state spends ₹350 crore every year under the Chief Minister Medical Relief Scheme, helping families who cannot afford critical treatment.

These support systems bridge gaps for people who rely on government hospitals.

🌱 Healthcare jobs. New hospitals. Real timelines. Bihar’s biggest healthcare leap is happening now.
