Developed under Muzaffarpur Smart City, this ₹213.25-crore mega development aims to change how people experience public spaces. The lake, once ignored, is evolving into a clean, vibrant, and modern recreational zone. Moreover, its location within the city makes it accessible to families, students, morning walkers, tourists, and nature lovers.
Even in its incomplete state, people are stopping by to take a look. The improved pathways, fresh plantations, and glowing lights hint at the beauty that is about to unfold.
While finishing touches continue, many elements of the project already reflect the scale of transformation. The idea is simple—create a space where people can relax, walk, breathe, and enjoy the city in a new way.

These features, once fully ready, will give Muzaffarpur a new identity. And, importantly, they will offer residents a refreshing escape within the city.
Environmental care sits at the centre of the project. The Smart City team has planted trees along the lake edges, which already attract birds and bring freshness to the space. Additionally, modern ecological techniques are being used to improve water quality and protect biodiversity.
The efforts of the Smart City team, led by Municipal Commissioner Vikram Virkar (@VikramVirkar), deserve recognition for pushing the project ahead despite earlier delays.
Even before completion, Sikandarpur Lake Front has become a talking point across North Bihar. Locals expect the place to become a prime venue for events, cultural festivals, morning routines, and tourism.
Though the project is not finished yet, the team is working steadily to make the lakefront accessible soon. The city now waits eagerly, hoping for its grand opening in the coming months.
