When a single announcement can move markets, you know it’s big. NCC Ltd’s shares jumped nearly 5% in early trade after bagging a massive ₹2,090.5 crore project in Bihar’s Jamui district. Investors are buzzing, and the state is set to witness a transformative water infrastructure boost.
The Water Resources Department of Bihar has awarded NCC the contract for the ambitious Barner Reservoir Scheme. The Letter of Award (LoA) was issued on September 15, 2025.
The project includes:
Construction of a full-fledged reservoir
Building dam structures
Developing irrigation channels
Executing allied works
This mega project will follow standard domestic contract terms. Importantly, it does not fall under any related-party transaction, ensuring transparency in execution.
According to exchange filings, the construction timeline is set at 30 months. After completion, NCC will also manage a 60-month Defect Liability Period (DLP).
The total contract value stands at ₹2,090.5 crore, excluding GST, making this one of the largest water infrastructure investments in Bihar in recent years.
Markets responded instantly. On September 16, 2025, NCC shares surged 4.9% to ₹222.50 on the BSE, making it the day’s high.
While the stock has been volatile, this contract has brought a wave of optimism:
Over the last year, NCC fell 33.08%
Year-to-date, it is down 23.55%
However, in six months, it gained 13.97%
This latest win might shift momentum and build stronger investor confidence.
