Festive season travel just got easier! The Railways has announced a special train between Delhi and Sitamarhi, giving thousands of passengers relief from festive rush. This train service aims to ease the crowd during peak travel months when getting a confirmed ticket feels impossible.
Every year, as the festive season approaches, trains from Delhi to Bihar get packed beyond capacity. Families, students, and workers struggle to book seats. To solve this, Indian Railways has introduced the Anand Vihar Terminal–Sitamarhi Special Train (04016/04015).
With this move, travel will become smoother, and passengers can reach Sitamarhi without the usual stress of overcrowding.
Train Number 04016 will run from 29 September to 30 November.
It will depart Anand Vihar at 15:30 hrs daily.
The train will reach Lucknow at 01:20 hrs the next day.
Finally, it will arrive in Sitamarhi by 15:00 hrs on the second day.
This schedule ensures that passengers traveling during festivals get a comfortable journey without last-minute ticket worries.
Train Number 04015 will operate from 30 September to 1 December.
It will leave Sitamarhi at 16:30 hrs daily.
The train will pass through Lucknow at 08:40 hrs next morning.
It will then continue to Delhi, giving travelers a direct and hassle-free return option.
According to Pankaj Kumar Singh, CPRO of North Eastern Railway, festive demand has pushed the need for special services. He mentioned that weekly special trains via Lucknow will start from 27 September, while the Gomti Nagar–Bengaluru service will also run till December to support extra demand.
Alongside Sitamarhi, another special service will benefit travelers:
Train 05017 Mau–Udhna Weekly Special will run every Saturday from 27 September to 1 November.
Departure: 05:30 hrs from Mau.
Major stops: Badshahnagar (14:02 hrs), Aishbagh (14:40 hrs).
Arrival: Udhna at 12:00 hrs the next day.
The return service, Train 05018 Udhna–Mau, will operate every Sunday from 28 September to 2 November. It will leave Udhna at 15:00 hrs and stop at Aishbagh (14:15 hrs) and Badshahnagar (14:47 hrs) before heading further.
If you plan to travel during Durga Puja, Diwali, or Chhath, these trains are your golden chance. Early booking will ensure comfort, safety, and timely arrival. With railway authorities expanding services, traveling between Delhi, Lucknow, Sitamarhi, Mau, and Udhna has never been more convenient.
