They are the unsung heroes of every village—guiding children, supporting mothers, and making sure nutrition and care reach every home. Their hard work now receives long-awaited recognition.
On September 8, 2025, the state government announced a significant stipend hike for anganwadi workers and helpers. More than 1.20 lakh sevikas and sahayikas across Bihar will directly benefit from this decision.
Under the new update, anganwadi workers (sevika) will now receive ₹9,000 per month, increased from the earlier ₹7,000. Similarly, anganwadi helpers (sahayika) will now get ₹4,500, up from ₹4,000.
Anganwadi workers are the backbone of community health and nutrition programs. They serve as frontline caregivers, helping children receive early education, proper nourishment, and guidance for mothers during pregnancy.
With this stipend increase, their contribution is finally being acknowledged in a meaningful way. The hike is not just financial support—it is also a gesture of respect for their tireless service.
From monitoring child nutrition to spreading awareness about health, anganwadis play a transformative role in Bihar’s villages. Over the years, they have been instrumental in shaping healthier communities and creating awareness at the grassroots level.
Now, with better financial security, workers are expected to feel more valued, which could strengthen their impact on families across the state.
