Bihar News: Transformative Decisions for Health, Women, Jobs, and Sports

Bihar has unlocked a series of decisions that touch healthcare, women’s empowerment, jobs, and sports. In a single cabinet meeting, 48 approvals shaped a roadmap that promises stronger institutions, new opportunities, and more growth across the state.

7 New Medical Colleges Across Bihar

The cabinet cleared the opening of seven government medical colleges in Kishanganj, Katihar, Rohtas, Sheohar, Lakhisarai, Arwal, and Sheikhpura.

With this decision, Bihar moves closer to its vision of one medical college per district. Already, 12 colleges are functional while 20 remain under construction. These new additions will:

  • One woman in every family will receive ₹10,000 to start her own business.

  • After six months, successful ventures will earn an additional ₹2 lakh grant.

  • A dedicated fund of ₹20,000 crore ensures women have the financial support to grow.

Through this plan, families gain a new income stream. More importantly, women gain confidence and recognition as entrepreneurs.


3,233 Government Posts Created

To boost services and education, the cabinet created 3,233 new government posts. Key allocations include:

  • 1,800 posts for teachers and staff in residential schools

  • 760 posts under Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023

  • 237 posts in government engineering colleges

  • 177 posts in polytechnic and women’s polytechnic colleges

  • Dozens of posts in soil conservation, art, culture, youth, and law enforcement

These appointments will not only strengthen institutions but also open doors for educated youth looking for stable careers.


Salary Hikes, Stipends, and Honorariums

The cabinet also addressed pay and allowances across several sectors.

  • Police ATS officials now receive a 30% risk allowance, capped at ₹25,000.

  • Home Guards’ allowance rises from ₹774 to ₹1,121 per day.

  • Gram Kutchery Secretaries earn ₹9,000 monthly, up from ₹6,000.

  • Medical interns receive a stipend of ₹27,000, while physiotherapy and occupational therapy interns get ₹20,000.

  • Technical Assistants now earn ₹40,000, and Accountant-cum-IT Assistants earn ₹30,000.

With these hikes, Bihar ensures that professionals and students receive fair recognition for their roles.


Sports Development Gets a Strong Push

Sports in Bihar also gained major attention. The cabinet announced:

  • Approval of the Outstanding Sportspersons Direct Appointment Rules 2025, making selection fair and transparent.

  • Transfer of the Rajgir International Cricket Stadium to the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) for management.

  • Allocation of ₹574.33 crore for a state-of-the-art sports complex at Dumri, Patna district.

Consequently, Bihar positions itself to host international matches and nurture sporting talent with world-class infrastructure.


Culture, Industry, and Infrastructure Decisions

Beyond health, jobs, and sports, the cabinet also cleared several strategic steps:

  • Raised the Bihar Contingency Fund to ₹12,675 crore for smooth project implementation.

  • Continued stamp duty concessions for entrepreneurs until the new investment policy is released.

  • Approved land transfer for a new Bihar Judicial Academy in Patna.

  • Introduced the Bihar Rajaswa Karmchari Samvarg Niyamawali 2025, upgrading revenue staff to a state-level cadre.
