From village classrooms to city cafés, innovation lives everywhere in Bihar. And now, the state government wants to hear from you.
On July 14, Bihar’s Industries Minister Nitish Mishra unveiled the Bihar Idea Festival—a new digital platform designed for students, entrepreneurs, and startups. It allows anyone with a bold idea to share their vision and help shape the state’s industrial future.
This is more than just a portal. It’s a signal that Bihar is ready to listen, support, and scale ideas that can transform lives.
The Bihar Idea Festival is a first-of-its-kind initiative by the Department of Industries, in association with JEEViKA and other partners. Its mission is to collect more than 10,000 innovative ideas from all 38 districts of Bihar.
Instead of chasing innovation in urban centres alone, the portal focuses on grassroots entrepreneurship. It invites solutions for local challenges—from sustainable farming to health tech, from education tools to rural business models.
If you’ve ever thought, “This idea could change something,” now is the time to act.

Selected participants won’t just receive applause—they’ll get real support. This includes:
Technical mentorship
Business training
Consultation with experts
Resources to build and scale
Moreover, top entries will win a wild card opportunity to pitch for seed funding of ₹10 lakh under the Bihar Startup Policy.
That means you can go from idea to funded prototype without moving out of your home district.
The program begins July 24 with awareness campaigns across districts. These campaigns will help local changemakers understand how to submit their ideas and participate. It will lead up to a two-day grand event in Patna in the last week of August.
According to Mihir Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), this is part of a larger push to make Bihar’s startup environment more inclusive and accessible. The focus is not only on innovation but on innovation that solves real problems.
For decades, bright minds from Bihar have migrated to other states, seeking platforms to express their ideas. This portal changes that narrative. Now, the government is bringing the platform home, inviting innovation from every corner of the state.
Importantly, it represents a shift in how policy engages with people—from top-down direction to bottom-up participation. With the right support, even small ideas from rural Bihar can become engines of growth.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment. If you have an idea—big or small—submit it now. The Bihar Idea Festival gives you a rare opportunity to access resources, visibility, and funding without leaving your state.
