Bihar’s Women Entrepreneurs Are Leading a Quiet Revolution in Industry and Self-Reliance
Empowering thousands of women through financial aid and training
What if we told you that nearly 9,000 women in Bihar are now running their own businesses and shaping the state’s economy? Thanks to the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneur Scheme, Bihar is witnessing an inspiring wave of female self-reliance.
The scheme has already empowered 8,787 women by providing financial support and skill training. Together, they have received over ₹608 crore in funds to start or expand their ventures. This isn’t just about numbers — it’s about real lives changing for the better.
How the scheme fuels entrepreneurship and economic independence
The primary goal of this initiative is to motivate women to become entrepreneurs. It offers up to ₹10 lakh in project funding, combining interest-free loans of ₹5 lakh repayable over seven years and grants covering up to 50% of project costs.
Moreover, the program offers comprehensive training to help women launch and sustain their businesses successfully. Beneficiaries also gain access to marketplace promotion, expert business advice, and support services.
Importantly, the scheme welcomes applicants aged 18 to 50 years who are permanent residents of Bihar. It is also inclusive of the transgender community, making it a progressive and holistic effort.
Popular business ventures and growing opportunities
Women entrepreneurs are thriving in sectors like ready-made garments, flour (atta), sattu, gram flour (besan), and notebook manufacturing. These industries not only meet local demand but also create jobs in rural and urban areas.
In addition to this flagship program, thousands of women benefit from the Bihar Small Entrepreneurs Scheme and Bihar Startup Policy, which have supported 10,963 and 226 women respectively. This ecosystem is steadily expanding.
A brighter future for Bihar’s women and economy
This scheme is more than just a government program; it is a beacon of hope and empowerment. By combining financial aid with skill development, it opens doors for women to achieve economic freedom and inspire future generations.
