Patna’s roads are about to tell a new story—and it begins with Behta to Maner. While everyone was watching the skyways and flyovers, a quieter revolution has taken shape below. It’s not just construction—it’s Bihar, building momentum!
The Bihar government, under the leadership of CM Nitish Kumar, is accelerating infrastructure projects in Patna to transform urban mobility. As part of this mission, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for widening the crucial Behta–Maner route is ready.
This 22-kilometer stretch will soon be expanded to 14 meters, connecting smoothly to JP Ganga Path—one of Patna’s most ambitious expressway projects. The move is not just about width; it’s about opening up ease, time, and economic opportunity for thousands of daily commuters.
With an expected investment of ₹70 crore, the widened Behta-Danapur-Maner route will boost connectivity towards Ara and Buxar. Until JP Ganga Path extends to Koilwar, this widened stretch will serve as a strategic alternative, helping ease traffic and save hours of travel time.
Moreover, the upcoming Danapur-Bihta Elevated Road will further reduce congestion, marking a new chapter in Patna’s west zone development.
This isn’t a one-road story. The state government has placed Patna West Path Pramandal in charge of executing three crucial road expansions:
Currently just 7.5 meters wide, Gola Road—connecting Nehru Path (Bailey Road)—will soon feature dual 7-meter lanes. With a budget of ₹20 crore, the project includes proper drainage, dividers, and sidewalks to ease traffic and prevent flooding.
Plans are underway to turn this canal-side road into a 14-meter-wide four-lane route. At a cost of ₹70 crore, the project requires relocating schools in Chulhaichak and Kothwa villages. Authorities will also remove encroachments and mark land boundaries by May.
District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh has assured timely execution. The tender process is almost complete. Temporary encroachments on government land will be dealt with strictly—legal notices will follow if deadlines are missed.
These aren’t just plans on paper. These are real steps being taken, with deadlines, budgets, and local accountability.
Better roads lead to better lives. From reducing travel time to boosting local business and easing school commutes, these changes will touch every Patnaite’s life. Once completed, these roads will serve as milestones in Patna’s journey towards becoming a modern, well-connected city.
But this isn’t the end—Patna’s infrastructure growth is just warming up.
