Rajgir Station 2.0: A Stunning Makeover Worth ₹50 Crore Is Coming – Get Ready for a World-Class Travel Experience
Rajgir Station to Shine Under Amrit Bharat Yojana
Imagine arriving at a railway station where every corner whispers tales of history while offering modern comforts. Rajgir Railway Station, one of Bihar’s iconic gateways, is now being transformed under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme into a world-class transit hub.
With an investment of ₹40–50 crore, this redevelopment isn’t just about concrete and steel — it’s about restoring identity and reshaping the travel experience for millions.
What’s Changing: From Platforms to Panoramas
To begin with, the station will get extra platforms to manage increasing passenger loads. Moreover, escalators and lifts will make travel easier for the elderly and differently-abled.
That’s not all. A VVIP lounge is being constructed to accommodate special guests, while high-end food courts and restaurants will cater to tourists and daily travelers alike.
In addition, walls will come alive with murals and paintings of Rajgir’s rich legacy, featuring legendary figures like Jarasandh and Lord Buddha. These elements will add emotional and cultural depth to the station’s physical upgrade.
Infrastructure Meets Identity
The facelift goes beyond utility — it’s symbolic. Rajgir, long associated with spirituality and history, will now stand tall as a symbol of Bihar’s fusion of heritage and modernity.
Furthermore, the station will also house a new washing pit, with a budget of ₹4 crore. Once operational, it will allow the introduction of 2–3 additional trains, improving rail connectivity significantly.
Leadership That Drives Progress
This ambitious project gained momentum due to the proactive initiative of MP Kaushalendra Kumar. Thanks to his consistent follow-up with the Ministry of Railways, not only Rajgir but also Bihar Sharif Station has been included under this scheme.
According to Aadhar Raj, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (Danapur Division), the work is on track and scheduled for completion by December 2025.
New Trains, New Horizons
As part of the broader vision, two new trains have been introduced to enhance accessibility:
These routes are expected to boost tourism, especially for pilgrims seeking smoother access to northern India’s sacred destinations.
Why Rajgir’s Transformation Matters
Clearly, this upgrade is more than just a construction project. It reflects Bihar’s rising aspirations. Through initiatives like this, the state is showing it’s ready to offer world-class services without letting go of its roots.
Notably, the Amrit Bharat Yojana covers over 93 railway stations across the East Central Railway Zone, with over 25 stations in the Danapur Division alone receiving major facelifts.
