Bhagalpur’s Big Leap: ₹32 Crore Bridge to Transform Sultanpur-Dumma Route
A game-changer is coming to Bhagalpur. A brand-new ₹32.34 crore RCC two-lane bridge will soon rise over the famous Badua River, connecting Sultanganj to Dumma on the Kachhi Kanwariya Path. This infrastructure project will not only enhance connectivity but also make travel smoother for thousands, especially for Kanwariyas.
8 Agencies Compete for the Mega Project
Eight major construction firms have submitted their bids for this ambitious project. The evaluation phase has successfully cleared all contenders, and by next month, officials will select the winning agency. The project aims to kick off construction by May-June 2025 and reach completion by 2026.
Who Are the Bidders?
Prominent construction agencies competing for this contract include:
- Manoj Kumar Singh (Deoghar)
- M/s Jai Mata Di (Begusarai)
- Triveni Engicon (Jamshedpur)
- Rajveer Construction (Jharkhand)
- Rajesh Kumar (Begusarai)
- M/s Shriram Enterprises (Bhagalpur)
- Satish Kumar (Deoghar)
- SB Engicon Pvt Ltd (Patna)
All agencies have successfully passed the technical bid stage. Now, officials will assess their financial bids, and the company offering the lowest bid will secure the contract.
Final Selection and Approval Process
The Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation (Bhagalpur Division) has set March 24 as the last date for objections regarding the tender process. After this, a final review meeting will take place. If authorities find discrepancies in any agency’s documents, they will disqualify them.
Once they determine the lowest bidder, they will issue the work order, and construction will begin without further delay.
Traffic Woes: A Daily Struggle
While this project is a beacon of hope, Bhagalpur continues to battle traffic nightmares. The Sabour region, especially near Engineering College and Mamlakha, experiences 24/7 congestion. Heavy vehicles crowd the narrow roads, causing long delays. Moreover, poor road conditions, incomplete flyovers, and unplanned construction have worsened the city’s transportation woes.
The Need for Faster Execution
Local residents struggle daily due to slow-paced construction. Many roads remain partially built, while exposed steel bars, potholes, and dust clouds create hazardous commuting conditions. The authorities must accelerate execution and implement proper planning to ease travel woes.
