Revolutionizing Girls’ Education: Bihar Schools to Get ‘Saheli Kaksh’ with Sanitary Pads & Soap

Bihar is taking a giant leap toward girls’ education and empowerment! Imagine a school where every girl feels safe, healthy, and confident. That’s exactly what Samastipur district is set to achieve with the launch of ‘Saheli Kaksh’ in all middle and high schools.

Empowering Girls with Health & Hygiene

The Bihar Education Project Director has directed every school in Samastipur to establish ‘Saheli Kaksh.’ This initiative not only aims to improve girls’ health but also focuses on increasing their attendance. A designated female teacher will lead the program, ensuring its seamless execution. With this step, the state is actively addressing menstrual hygiene while creating a safe space for young girls to discuss their concerns.

A Thoughtful Initiative with Weekly Interactive Sessions

This project goes beyond simply providing sanitary pads and soap. It fosters an environment of awareness and open discussions. Every week, the nodal officer will conduct a 30-minute session with students to talk about health, hygiene, and personal challenges. Through these interactive discussions, girls will gain the knowledge they need to manage their well-being effectively.

Scientific Approach to Menstrual Hygiene

DPO SSA Manvendra Kumar Rai emphasized the importance of discussing menstrual hygiene with a scientific perspective. Girls will receive clear and fact-based information about bodily changes, hygiene practices, and solutions to common concerns. Additionally, these discussions will extend to Parent-Teacher Meetings, ensuring that guardians become equally aware and involved in their daughters’ health and education.

Community Collaboration for Greater Impact

The initiative extends beyond schools. Organizations like the Women Development Corporation, UNICEF, and local representatives will actively contribute to this mission. Moreover, schools have been asked to provide details of their available space so that a designated ‘Saheli Kaksh’ can be set up efficiently. Authorities expect schools to establish these spaces within a month and submit reports to the department.

Special Days to Celebrate and Encourage Participation

To encourage active participation, the program will introduce a tradition of distributing sanitary pads and soap on birthdays and special occasions. This thoughtful gesture will not only make the girls feel valued but also normalize conversations around menstrual hygiene.

This is a significant step toward ensuring that no girl misses school due to a lack of hygiene facilities. Be part of this revolutionary movement! Follow www.biharsay.com for regular updates and join our 10K+ community worldwide!
