Bihar’s Bold Move for Women: Pink Buses & Special Hostels Announced!
Women-Only Pink Buses to Hit Bihar’s Roads Soon!
Imagine a city where public transport is safe, comfortable, and driven entirely by women! Bihar is making this a reality with special “Pink Buses” designed exclusively for women. The 2025-26 state budget focuses on women’s empowerment, and the State Transport Corporation will launch these buses in Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Purnia, and other major cities.
From the driver and conductor to the passengers, these buses will be women-only, ensuring a safe and reliable travel experience. To start with, Patna will receive 25 Pink Buses, while Gaya and Bhagalpur will get 10 each. More buses will be introduced based on demand and population.
33% Women Staff & Vehicle Training Centers
Bihar isn’t stopping at just transport. The government aims to increase women’s participation in the workforce by ensuring that 33% of transport staff are women. This includes drivers, conductors, and depot maintenance staff.
To help more women step into these roles, vehicle training centers will be set up in every district. These centers will provide professional driving training and employment opportunities, enabling women to take control of their future.
Hostels for Working Women in Five Cities
Relocating for work is challenging, especially for women. Bihar is addressing this issue by launching working women’s hostels in five major cities, ensuring safe and affordable accommodation. The hostels will come with better security, reduced rental costs, and improved living conditions.
Past hostel projects failed due to strict eligibility rules and lack of funding. This time, the government is implementing a new policy and structured planning to ensure long-term success.
