Saharsa, Bihar—In a significant boost to Bihar’s tourism, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has announced the construction of the state’s second glass bridge, modeled after the iconic one in Rajgir. This ambitious project, with a budget of ₹97.61 crores sanctioned by the Central Government, will be built over the renowned Matsyagandha Lake in Saharsa.

The project is expected to elevate Saharsa as a prominent tourist destination while generating thousands of employment opportunities in the region.


Matsyagandha Lake: The New Tourism Hub

The picturesque Matsyagandha Lake will undergo a complete transformation as part of the project. A total of 22 key attractions will be developed, including:

  • Circular Glass Bridge: A unique glass bridge offering breathtaking views of the lake, inspired by the one in Rajgir.
  • Musical Fountain and Light & Sound Show: Entertainment amenities to captivate visitors.
  • Selfie Points and Food Courts: Modern facilities to enhance the tourist experience.
  • Ghats and Parking: Infrastructure to ensure convenience and accessibility.
  • Cleanliness and Basic Facilities: Toilet blocks and other amenities will ensure a comfortable experience for tourists.

Employment and Economic Growth

The development of Matsyagandha Lake is anticipated to create significant employment opportunities in sectors like handicrafts, hospitality, and transport. The initiative aims to uplift the local economy while boosting the tourism industry.

Dr. Alok Ranjan, Saharsa MLA, expressed his gratitude, stating that the beautification of Matsyagandha Lake was a promise he made during his election campaign, and it is now being fulfilled. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for their support.
