A group of 106 pilgrims from Nagpur, Maharashtra, had travelled to Nepal for a religious trip.

However, devastating floods disrupted their plans. Heavy rain and rising floodwaters made their journey back extremely difficult.

The pilgrims struggled to find a safe route to India. At one point, they reportedly saw vehicles being swept away by floodwaters.

As a result, getting home became their only priority.

The group eventually made its way towards the Bhittamore border near Sitamarhi.

That crossing changed the mood completely.

Then, Bihar Stepped In

The Bihar government responded after the Maharashtra government sought assistance.

The Sitamarhi administration coordinated the group’s safe movement from the border.

Two Coaches Added to Their Train

Bihar officials coordinated with railway authorities to arrange their onward journey.

As a result, two additional coaches were added to the train carrying the pilgrims towards Maharashtra.

The group then left Patna for Nagpur.

Finally, they were on their way home.

For families waiting in Nagpur, that train carried something far more valuable than passengers.
