Indigo Crisis Impact: Bihar Steps Up With Extra Coaches on Delhi-Bound Trains | A Big Relief for Stranded Flyers

When flights stop, hopes often sink. But this week, Bihar turned panic into relief with quick decisions that helped thousands of travellers stuck due to the ongoing Indigo crisis. For many, trains became the lifeline they desperately needed.

Why the Indigo Crisis Created Chaos for Travellers

The sudden wave of Indigo flight cancellations left passengers confused and stressed. Many of them had urgent plans, medical needs or office commitments in Delhi. As chaos grew, people started crowding airports and searching for alternatives.
Yet, travelling by train seemed impossible due to packed waiting lists.

This is where the Indian Railways stepped in.
And the move changed everything.

Railways Add Extra Coaches to Key Delhi-Bound Trains

To ease the pressure, East Central Railway (ECR) acted fast on the instructions of the Danapur Division. Their quick response restored confidence among the stranded passengers.

Officials, including Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer of ECR (@RailMinIndia), confirmed the steps.

Extra Coaches Added:

  • Tejas Rajdhani Express – One extra Third AC coach

  • Sampoorna Kranti Express – One extra Second AC coach

These additions increased seat availability within hours. As a result, people finally found a reliable option to reach Delhi without panic.

Special Trains Flagged Off for Immediate Relief

Besides adding coaches, Railways launched several special trains to handle the sudden surge in demand. These trains ensured that stranded flyers did not have to wait endlessly.

Here are the key special trains running to and from Delhi:

  • 02309 Patna → Anand Vihar Terminal Special
    Departs: 8 December, 20:30
    Arrives: Next day, 15:00

  • 02310 Anand Vihar → Patna Special
    Departs: 7 & 9 December, 19:00
    Arrives: Next day, 14:00

  • 02395 Patna → Anand Vihar Special
    Departs: 7 December, 20:30
    Arrives: Next day, 15:00

  • 02396 Anand Vihar → Patna Special

  • 05563 Darbhanga → Anand Vihar Special

  • 05564 Anand Vihar → Darbhanga Special

These services created breathing room for passengers, especially those who lost their travel plans due to cancelled @IndiGo6E flights.

Why This Move Matters for Bihar and Delhi Travelers

The Indigo disruption exposed how fragile travel networks can be. Yet, the railways showed that strong systems can absorb shocks when quick actions are taken.
Furthermore, this step proved that Bihar handles crises with clarity and compassion.

Passengers now see a clear path forward. They have trains, seats and timely alternatives. Even though the airline crisis continues, people can still move toward safety, work and family.
