Indian Railways Introduces Aadhaar-Linked Booking Ahead of Diwali & Chhath 2025 Rush

This Diwali and Chhath, say goodbye to booking stress! Indian Railways is rolling out Aadhaar-linked ticket bookings to help millions secure seats effortlessly.

Aadhaar-Linked Booking: Priority for Early Birds

From October 1, 2025, passengers with Aadhaar linked to their IRCTC accounts will enjoy a 15-minute priority booking window. AC class tickets can be booked between 10:00 am and 10:15 am, while non-AC classes open between 11:00 am and 11:15 am.

Meanwhile, travellers without Aadhaar linkage can still book tickets after this window. This step ensures smoother bookings and reduces last-minute chaos.

Booking Window and Festival Travel Period

The new system covers journeys between October 3 and December 2, 2025. Passengers can plan both onward and return journeys in advance, securing their spots during peak festive season.

Indian Railways has also introduced special trains connecting Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh cities such as Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Buxar, Varanasi, Mau, Lucknow, and Motihari. These measures aim to ease travel pressure during Diwali and Chhath Puja.

Why Linking Aadhaar Matters

Officials advise passengers to link their Aadhaar well ahead of time. Doing so guarantees priority access during peak booking hours. This simple step could save hours of waiting and ensure families reunite stress-free during festivals.

Tickets can be booked through the official IRCTC website or mobile app. Transition words like furthermore, meanwhile, and thus enhance clarity and keep travellers informed about these new rules.
