The Bihar government has announced that all Student Credit Card (SCC) loans under the Saat Nischay Yojana are now completely interest-free. This step is designed to reduce financial stress for students and give them the freedom to focus entirely on their education.
Earlier, education loans carried interest—4% for general students, and a reduced 1% for female, differently-abled, and transgender students. Now, every student will pay zero interest.
Repayment terms have also been made easier:
Loans up to ₹2 lakh: Repayment period extended from 5 years to 7 years.
Loans above ₹2 lakh: Repayment period extended from 7 years to 10 years.
This means students can pay back in smaller installments over a longer time, easing financial pressure.
